Many Persian student organizations focus on serving people of Persian heritage. This is a valuable service because many students don’t have immediate family around, and the student community acts as their support group. As it’s a good omen to be with family at Sal e Tahveel, or the moment of the Vernal Equinox, that student community fills an important role.
The purpose of HAND Foundation’s Norooz Outreach Program is to extend this sense of community and celebration BEYOND the Persian community. We invite student groups to apply for a grant to assist in their efforts.
Eligible organizations include official college and university student groups interested in promoting Norooz, the Persian New Year. These organizations don't need to be Persian. Everyone is welcome to apply.
Applicants must complete application form through this website. All fields must be completed for an application to be given serious consideration.
Grants can be made in any amount between $250 and $2500. Key grant award criteria are:
Innovation and breadth of outreach
Number of people attending
Percentage of attendees not of Persian heritage
Promotion of Norooz: completion of the outreach party or other idea, promotion on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Snapchat)
Grants will be made on a rolling basis. If a strong application is placed early, the grant may be made before the close of the application period. Grant award from HAND Foundation will be made to the university, not to individuals.
Grant application period opens: February 20, 2018
Grant application period closes: March 14, 2018
Norooz Outreach Party must be completed by March 20
